The conversation that followed by the man who spoke it went something like this: "We acknowledge that we are sinners, but the problem is far worse than we are willing to admit. I am a worse sinner than you know. Tip of the iceberg, etc." We also talked about the Southern gospel and the idea that there's basically good in everyone and that grace picks up where our own merit ends. All of this is in the context of a class on Soteriology (the doctrine of salvation). Good point…it was the former.
