Wow! Tonight’s Fiesta Bowl was even more exciting than Penn State beating Tennessee. I still cannot believe what an exciting football game I have just watched—great calls and gutty excecution from start to finish. In terms of double-or-nothing play calling, Bob Stoops has met his match in Chris Petersen.* Remember what I said about Boise State deserving to play Ohio State for the NCAA Division I-A National Championship? If this does not further the cause for a playoff system, then I do not know what will.**

* Though BSU played head to head the whole game (saving trickery to the very end).
** Perhaps over-hyped Michigan being blown away by Southern Cal?

  1. great, great, great game… I turned it off when Oklahoma went ahead with 1:02 to go. I walked upstairs and thought: “I need to have this game on just in case…” I’m SO glad I turned that back on. Amazing drive and outstanding play call to even the game up.

Then it looked like Oklahoma drove the stake back into Boise saying “how dare you try to win this from us” with an amazing run by Peterson. The drive the Boise came back with should make any true football fan weep. It was a fine example of why this is a great game, and why it’s a great game for college. Those kids will remember that game for the rest of their lives.

    Guts and glory indeed.

  4. It’s even more amazing when you see, prior to overtime, how much happened with the clock under 2:00 to play. That two-point conversion is probably the most exciting CFB plays I’ve ever seen.
