Adsense vs. Blog Mismatch

Look at this screenshot of my About page. Do you notice what the ad is about?

Adsense Gone Awry

While I might watch this movie to see what others are saying about Christianity, it is not necessarily the type of film that I want to be advertised here on Transformatum. There have been a few other Google ads that have bothered me, too. Is there a way to better control Adsense content?

  1. I got rid of adsense for just that reason. I may eventually put it back but only in non-prominent places like between the contet and the comment form like you’re doing here.

I think the only thing you can do with adsense is to ban that particular url from showing up in your adsense. I think there’s a way to do that in your preferences.

  2. I seem to recall you getting rid of Google ads over the content. I did go in and ban the URL. There’s a section where you can omit ads from a competitor.

How has your experience been with TLA?

  3. Well, I spoke too soon. Apparently I did something wrong when trying to block that ad. Also, when I was refreshing the page a new ad came up with a suggestively dressed cartoon (think Asian school-girl). I like image ads, because they break things up nicely, but I can just see myself spending all my time blocking ads…and I still haven’t made nearly enough revenue from them to justify it (like $18…not even enough to meet the minimum amount to have Google cut a check). So all of my Google Adsense image ads have been removed.

  4. [...] First it was the image ads. Then an observant reader noticed this text ad. Unless Google can come up with a way to allow more user control over ad content, I am done with AdSense for good. [...]
