On Patrol for New Music

Posted: 09.07.2006 in Aesthetic

After Holton let me borrow his Snow Patrol CD’s, I told him that he could not have them back. Then I suggested that Mandy buy them with her rewards points (so I had another source to borrow from) and she took the advice. In the meantime my boss gave us all gift cards, which I in turn used to buy both Eyes Open and Final Straw (as well as Wit). Then today I sold my cube neighbor on the band, too. When someone says, “Hey, listen to this song,” you usually do it out of courtesy. At least that is what she said right after admitting that she really loved what she heard (and that she was going to buy the album from iTunes that night).

Eyes Open Final Straw

The plug goes something like this: “If your listening habits are stuck in the 80′s and 90′s, then here is a band that is to the mid-aught years what U2 was to the early ’80′s. It’s both contemporary and unique…like the perfect blend between Indie Rock and Pop.” Seriously, I have not skipped a track yet. Did I mention that they were three parts Irish and one part Scottish?

  1. I guess 3/4 perfection isn’t bad…

  2. Well, since the Irish came from Scotland anyway…

For whatever reason, though, they happen to be based in Glasgow. Maybe Dublin is too U2?
