Act Your Age On Stage
That seemed to be the recurring message by the judges on American Idol this evening–sing songs that are in character. Eight women performed tonight for the final six female slots in the competition. Below is my ranked order from best to worst. Argue your favorites up or down.
- Mandisa “I Dropped My Last Name” Hundley
- Katherine “McFever” McPhee
- Lisa “Jimi” Tucker
- Ayla “Too Tall” Brown
- Kellie “Minx” Pickler
- Paris “On the Bubble” Bennett
- Kinnik “Chitlins” Sky
- Melissa “Etheridge” McGhee
By the way, I am puzzled why this post received so many comments (twenty-four at last count)? I think Mark Twain was right when he said: “Whiskey is for drinking; water is for fighting over.” Of course, by water he must have been referring to light beer.
Kellie Pickler should be #10. I don’t care how well you can sing, if you don’t know what a freakin’ minx is then you shouldn’t be famous.
LOL, I found that very funny, too. “I’m a mink?” “No, a Minx!” Heeheehee…and then Ryan asked her about going out to dinner and she said she tried a fish she’d never had before, “Salmon!” (pronounced with the “L”). You get the impression that she’s not been off the farm much till now. I know that sounds mean, but to your point I think the American Idol should be more than just a pretty voice.
We can’t be the only ones that think that. If she goes all the way and wins I’m boycotting Idol f_o_r_e_v_e_r. Well, maybe until nex season, I’m addicted.
Ayla Brown has to go. No personality and frankly not that great of a voice. I would also put paris and melissa higher than the minx! Here is my order:
1. Mandisa
2. Katherine
3. Lisa
4. Paris
5. Mellisa
6. Kinnik
7. Kellie
8. Ayla
I’ll give it to you that Ayla had an off performance, but I think her level of talent is above my bottom two (which also happen to be the ones that Simon said should go). Besides, I like tall people.
