U2.com has posted the set list from the 5/14/05 show in Philadelphia. The band played seven of eleven songs from the new album. U2′s first album, Boy, is one of my favorites, so I was pleased to hear An Cat Dubh/Into the Heart and Electric Co. It was also a surprise that the encore kicked off with three songs from Achtung Baby. The closing with ’40′ was classic. Each member left the stage one by one — Bono, then Edge, then Adam, etc. It was cool to hear the song stripped down to its individual parts. After Larry finished his drum solo the crowd kept singing the chorus, “How long, how long must we sing this song,” until the house lights came on.
I mentioned last Saturday afternoon that we saw the V1 plane at the Philadelphia International Airport. Here is the photo I promised. Some quick research reveals that U2 commissioned the Air Canada Airbus A320-211 for the Vertigo Tour (and I thought they owned it!).

Well, since we are on a subject that I cannot seem to get off of…click here.

I will not divulge which one I got wrong, but if I had thought harder about what instruments the band members play…hint, hint.
Rob helped me locate this photo earlier today, but I found this one myself over in U2log.com’s Flickr pool. I barely made it into the frame, while Pam has part of her face blocked.

Note the confetti all over the stage. It came down from the ceiling during City of Blinding Lights.
We were initially standing side by side during the opening act, but after Kings of Leon finished I had Pam hold our spot while I went out for a Coke. When I got back the crowd had grown and we had to push forward to keep our place. At that point it made sense for her to stand in front. I was the tallest guy at the front — maybe in the whole ellipse — so I am sure that some folks behind me were mad.
Our concert tickets had, “No cameras or recorders,” clearly printed on the face. The tight security (patting down and wanding) initially made me feel okay with my decision to leave the camera behind. However, after we ended up next to the stage and saw people around us who had successfully smuggled their cameras through, I realized that I made a bad call. I could have taken some great shots from our vantage point — ones like these from a French U2 fan site.

This really is me! It helps to be tall sometimes. Photo from U2Neophobia.com.
It is hard to see in the picture, but Bono is holding a bottle of spring water in his right hand. He took a couple sips from it and then proceeded to shower us with the remainder of the bottle. Under normal circumstances I would be annoyed, but in the moment it was not irritating at all.
