No Cure for Their Infighting

One of the reasons that I like U2 is because the four band members have stuck together for over twenty-five years. Contrast that to another band I listen to, The Cure, who seem to be up to their old tricks again.

Two veteran members of the Cure have exited the U.K. rock act, which has long featured a revolving door of musicians backing leader Robert Smith.

Update: An email conversation with Rob reminded me of a poem by Bono that appears on the back side of the exclusive poster that is included with the U2 Special Edition iPod.

the hardest thing to do is to stick together
mates, family, marriage, business, bands
Its like resisting gravity….its like King Canute
sitting in his chair trying to talk back the tide….
but you can, and we have, and we will, turn
the waves around…the alternative is too predictable..
you rid the room of argument…you empty your
life of the people you need the most. Bono 04

King Canute was an old English king who has an inspirational story attributed to him.
